Vocational Habilitation

This service is designed to support individuals in gaining the skills, experience, and confidence needed to successfully prepare for, obtain, and maintain integrated community employment. It offers a combination of learning opportunities, hands-on work experiences, and volunteer placements that help individuals build general employment-related skills in real-world settings. The focus is on matching each person with opportunities that reflect their unique interests, strengths, priorities, and abilities, ensuring a more meaningful and sustainable employment outcome.

Through structured support and individualized planning, participants are guided along a path toward meaningful employment in the community. Our dedicated staff work closely with each individual to provide personalized instruction and encouragement in a wide range of skill areas that are critical for workplace success.

These supports include developing effective communication skills—such as interacting appropriately with supervisors, co-workers, customers, and others in the workplace—as well as learning how to follow commonly accepted workplace behavior standards, such as professional conduct and dress codes. Participants also receive help with building problem-solving skills and strategies, understanding and practicing workplace safety, and learning how to speak up for themselves on the job.

In addition to job-specific skills, individuals are supported in learning how to arrange and use transportation independently to travel to and from work. Staff also assist in identifying career interests and setting goals, helping individuals take clear and meaningful steps toward advancement on their personal path to integrated community employment.

Overall, this service equips individuals not only with the technical and practical tools they need for employment but also with the personal empowerment and workplace readiness that support long-term success and independence in the workforce.
